Ring of Pain Zero Results + Yearly Awards

Ring of Pain Zero
Live at the BankAntlantic Center in Ft Lauderdale Florida

Note: Ring of Pain cards are exhibition matches, set in a ring instead of a cage. There are two rounds of ten minuites, and a split decision is not a draw. Otherwise the fight is held under standard WCCF regulations.

DARK MATCHES

Jun Akitsuki d Paiva DaSilva R1 8:32 KO Via Kicks, ***
Akitsuki's career looked to be bleak, but he definately redeemed himself here. While he wore down DaSilva with his jiu-jitsu, his striking would win him this bout.

Akira Yamazaki d Saya Kazama R1 9:32 KO Via Strikes, ****
Much like the match before it, but the two were FIERCE, with Saya being cut by a knee. Saya was actually the favorite after nearly crippling Giselle Melendez but Yamazaki's jiu-jitsu experience was superior, and while Saya endured a "Bamboo Breaker" Choke, she was too worn out from struggling to avoid the rush of blows that ended this fight.

Gina Rocelli d Craig Hennisey R2 0:14 KO via Suplex ****
The up-and-coming "Rabid Dingo" gave a lot of heart, but Gina Rocelli made it clear that she wanted to prove she was worthy of Women's Title contention, finishing yet another match not with a kick but with a suplex.

Televised Portion Starts

Ingram: Jake Ingram here at Ring of Pain Zero: Battle of the Sexes. Tonight, a controversial contest, the Men's champion undefeated "Hand of God" Michael Norcia faces the Women's champion, Gutter. Gutter, who turns 18 later this month, nearly took a swing at Norcia during a press conference earlier this month when this show was announced after Norcia made a comment about her age. Also on the card, two rematches, Seto Kazuyo and Patricia Jackson as well as Corey O'Brian vs Tina "The Meana" Franklin. Tina as you all know gave O'Brian a minor concussion leaving to an amazingly quick ref stoppage at Thanks for the Bruises. That was O'Brian's secon loss in a row so redemtion is important here.

Sarah Martinez d Seth Williams R1 2:02 KO Via Roundhouse Kick, ***
After about a dozen or so punches were thrown, Martinez basically decided she was bored and kicked William's head in. Not much else to say.

Mei-Wa Ten d John Tunney R1 7:49 Submission Via Knees ***
Tunney's unortodox style managed to score some big shots in, but Ten's speed and conditioning played a huge factor, as she was able to wear Tunney down before DESTROYING him with knees forcing a tapout.

Seto Kazuyo d. Patricia Jackson R1 7:47 TKO via Ground & Pound ***
PJ was able to get some good foundation this time, and definately did better than in her last bout against the "Death God". Still, Kazuyo proved why is he known as the best submission fighter in the world by overwhelming her and eventually winning with a ground and pound.

Harold Creed d. Alicia Gordon R1 3:16 TKO via Back Ground and Pound ***
Gordon was a HOUSE OF FIRE at first, delivering kick after kick, trying to prove she was deserving of a rematch against Gutter. But while Creed doesn't connect with many blows they are like cinder blocks, and eventually Gordon learned that the hard way when she let her guard down for too long and took a huge punch, leading to a mount and a flurry that forced Big Bud to step in.

Tina Franklin d. Corey O'Brian R2 1:19 KO Via Roundhouse *****
AMAZING contest and a FOTY runner-up. O'Brian kept to the clinch, not expecting Franklin to be prepared for this with multiple knees. While O'Brian scored some good takedowns he was hurting and the end of round one was him basically trying to beat the clock and get the time to recover. O'Brian would go right for the kill and go for the leg submission, but Franklin managed to fight through it and with a BRUTAL Roundhouse won the match.

Gutter d. Michael Norcia R1 8:47 KO Via Backfist ****
WCCF forum poll had Norcia as the favorite by a whopping 91/9. Norcia did what brought him to the dance and use an unrelenting assault, but Gutter's street smarts and footwork helped her in defending and counterpunching as well. Norcia would get tired about seven minuites in, and Gutter would endure a last-ditch flurry, before fighting back and finishing Norcia off with a backfist that absolutely floored him.

Post-Fight
Jake Ingram would go to interview Gutter, who simply grabbed the microphone from him, said "I'm no fucking underdog!" and stormed off. Norcia didn't have any words for the crowd either, but was obviously FURIOUS.
